High Melt Flow Index Impact-Resistant Polypropylene

At 13:25 on October 14, 2025, Yulin Energy Chemical Company’s PP3 unit achieved a major breakthrough—the successful one-time production of the new ultra-high melt flow index impact-resistant polypropylene grade EP640V. This marks a new breakthrough for the company in R&D and innovation in the field of high-end chemical new materials.

Currently, the energy and chemical industry is accelerating its transformation towards high-end, diversified, and low-carbon technologies. Yulin Energy Chemical, closely following market demand, coordinated efforts across multiple departments, including the Production Planning Department, Product R&D Center, Technical Quality Department, and Sales Service Center. Through in-depth downstream market research and precise feasibility analysis, the company ultimately decided to switch to producing the high-impact polypropylene grade EP640V, seizing a first-mover advantage in the high-end materials market.

To minimize the transition time, the PP3 unit’s technical management personnel made advance plans and precise preparations. On the one hand, specialized training was organized to clarify key operational points and core difficulties, strengthening the technical foundation of personnel. On the other hand, the conversion process was refined, with precise control of hydrogen concentration and catalyst ratio on the conversion day, and close monitoring of key parameters such as reaction temperature, pressure, and product melt index. Considering the high melt index and high stability requirements of the extrusion granulation system, the extrusion granulation process conditions were simultaneously optimized, and the control parameters of the extruder and pelletizing system were monitored and dynamically adjusted in real time to ensure smooth progress throughout the entire process. Ultimately, the entire conversion process took only 5 hours, and EP640V was successfully put into the qualified product warehouse, achieving stable production.

It is reported that EP640V has outstanding core indicators, with a melt index of 100±15.0g/10min, combining high fluidity, high rigidity, and high impact resistance, as well as excellent chemical stability and creep resistance. At the same time, the product has high processing efficiency and can be used to prepare large thin-walled injection molded products, effectively achieving material lightweighting. It is widely applicable to the automotive industry, home appliances, logistics industry, and electronics and telecommunications fields, with broad market application prospects.
